Data collection
From the high level public submissions there were a range of suggestions for ways to increase the efficiency of data collection. The majority of suggestions were ultimately aimed at improving the quality of survey data in between the Agricultural Census collections (currently undertaken every five years). Suggestions included:


    · the use of on-line surveys

    · ‘real-time’ data collection

    · consultation with industry to better target surveys and ensure farmer support and participation

    · integrating data from different data collections or pooling data from different data sources into one location

    · testing the veracity of survey data with industry
